Gopaldhara Tea Estate
|Varietal:||FTGFOP1 CH Muscatel|
First flush of 2019 grown on the Gopaldhara Tea Estate. It is grown at an average elevation of 6500ft. It is graded as FTGOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe Grade 1).
Harvested during the months of March and April, Gopaldhara’s First Flush is minimally oxidised is minimally oxidised during rolling, a very delicate processing method. The high elevation, terroir and growth during the winter months causes the tea plant to develop a unique flavour and aroma known as Muscatel. This flavour is bespoke to Darjeeling tea, and tends to be more prevalent in the finer grades of tea.
The aroma of the leaves is light and fresh, with a medium to dark green colouring. This tea produces a pleasingly golden coloured liquor, characteristic of high quality Darjeeling teas. The flavour is soft and medium bodied with dry floral notes at eighty degrees. The tea has no bitterness or harshness and tastes clean even as it begins to cool.
