Rohini Tea Estate

Varietal: FTGFOP1 AV2 Clonal
Season: March 2020
Region: Darjeeling
Country: India

First flush of 2020 grown on Rohini Tea Estate. It is grown at an average elevation of 1500-3000 Ft. It is graded as FTGOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe Grade 1).

The tea has a sweet aroma of fruits (most notably strawberry), with a finish of honey typical of its class of tea! The tea gives a satisfying and sharp aftertaste with zero astringency and the infused leaf also has a distinctive muscatel fragrance.

This tea is made using 100% fine leaf, mostly comprising of two leaves and a bud. The leaf plucking is of such fine quality that the tea can only be picked and sorted completely by hand. Harvested in March 2020, Rohini First Flush is minimally oxidised post rolling, a very delicate processing method.

Not only is Rohini one of the youngest tea gardens in Darjeeling, but it is usually the first garden to produce first flush in Darjeeling. The elevation, terroir and growth during the winter months causes the tea plant to develop a unique flavour and aroma known as Muscatel.
